AMERICAN VETERANS ADAPTIVE GOLF

American Veterans Adaptive Golf, (AVAG), is a rehabilitative and therapeutic golf and life skills program designed to enhance the physical, mental, social and emotional well-being of disabled veterans and injured military personnel.  Our adaptive golf curriculum has been developed for VA and Military hospitals to utilize as a key element in the rehabilitation and community re-entry process.

AVAG was developed in response to the overwhelming number of injured military service personnel returning from Iraq and Afghanistan with the objective of providing the best rehabilitative and therapeutic program in which they could continue after leaving the hospital.  The first weekly scheduled instructional session began with the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital in Tampa, FL on September 28, 2007 and officially launched the program during a community workshop 2 months later on Veterans Day weekend.

Although this rehabilitative and therapeutic golf and life skills program was designed for our recently injured military, a large number of disabled veterans participating in the weekly sessions served in WWII, Korea, Vietnam and the Gulf War.

AVAG has been specially developed for VA and Military hospitals to utilize as a key element in the rehabilitation and community re-entry process of disabled and injured veterans and military personnel.  Just like our original adaptive golf and life skills program we started 10 years ago, it is designed to enhance the physical, mental, social and emotional well-being of our American Veterans and provide the freedom to those who have fought for ours!

The Mission of AVAG, (American Veterans Adaptive Golf) is to enhance the lives of disabled and injured veterans and military personnel by conducting specialized adaptive golf programs to improve them physically, mentally, socially and emotionally.
Participants will experience a curriculum where they will learn to use their abilities to overcome any disability and improve themselves both on the golf course and in their everyday lives.

Our Vision is to develop and sustain a continuing AVAG curriculum with VA facilities and Military hospital bases nationally.  To provide a positive, life-enhancing program that integrates with recreational therapy and the overall rehabilitation process to give support to our American Veterans and Military Personnel as they face many new challenges upon returning home.  To provide training, resources and support to VA facilities and Military Hospitals and recruit and train local PGA golf professionals, therapists and coaches to be certified adaptive golf instructors to coordinate the AVAG program in their community.

Our American Veterans have placed the security of our Nation before their own lives, creating a debt that we can never fully repay. American Veterans represent the best of America and they deserve the best that America can give to them.

Please join us in giving "Freedom" back to those whom have made great sacrifices to give us ours!

Sincerely,
The Board of Directors of The Adaptive Golf Foundation of America
